Madrid

Over the summer both Radka and myself had been spending time with our respective families in the Czech Republic and the U.K. so we had decided to meet in Madrid before flying to South America. This was risky given the constantly changing restrictions (especially travelling from the U.K.) so we decided to come a couple of days before our main flight to have a bit of a buffer in case anything went wrong. This had the added bonus of allowing us a bit of time to sample some of the delights of the Spanish capital.

I’ll write a proper post about the best things we got up to in Madrid but for now, here’s a taster…

First things first – PCR Test before our main flight… If you’re doing this make sure you book an appointment – the queue for those who hadn’t was ridiculous!

We hadn’t been out of the train station for more than 5 minutes before some random guys says: ‘why do you have so much stuff’ but in a slightly less polite manner…

The most striking thing we found about Madrid was that there was impressive buildings everywhere you went!

They still looked amazing as the Sun went down.

Watching the lightning storm role in was very cool!

And the food wasn’t too bad either!

So all in all, not a bad start to the trip!
